Delhi Riots: High Court judge Justice Amit Sharma recuses from hearing bail matters

Delhi High Court judge, Justice Amit Sharma, on Thursday recused from hearing bail pleas related to the 2020 Delhi riots.

After Justice Sharma's recusing, the Bench headed by Justice Prathiba M Singh ordered that the matters be listed before a bench of which Justice Sharma was not a member subject to orders of the High Court's Acting Chief Justice.

The matters include the bail petitions of Sharjeel Imam, Meeran Haider and others.

This is the third Division Bench which has released the matters. Earlier, the cases were placed before Justice Siddharth Mridul and Justice Rajnish Bhatnagar.

After Justice Mridul was transferred to Manipur High Court, the case was assigned to the Bench of Justice Suresh Kumar Kait and Justice Manoj Jain.

With the recent roster change, the case was assigned to Justice Prathiba M Singh and Justice Amit Sharma.

The matter will go before a fourth Bench now.
